That was pretty funny! The inconsistencies there bug me too. I'll admit it's tough to form opinions about candidates based on the clips and quotes the media choose to put forth about any of them. That's why I'm looking forward to the unedited, and mostly unscripted, debates. Those are always very revealing.
Reading the comments on the last few posts, I really appreciate the different viewpoints and opinions. Most of the people I know who will talk politics agree with me in most respects. So it's good to hear the other side coming from rational people outside the media. At least I assume you surround yourself with rational people. ;o) It's interesting to me to see what issues really matter to others that really don't matter to me, and vice versa.
I do agree that alot of politicians and analysts talk on both sides of an issue and it can be funny and frustrating to try and get a real answer! For that reason I am excited about the debates to see their initial reactions to questions.
However, on the same line of thought, that is why some people seemed to beat up on Romney - he changed his mind on abortion. So what? People change their minds, people grow, people get different information.
However this type of change doesn't seem possible in a candidate (repub or dem) without the media projecting some kind of negativity into it. You changed your mind on the war? Then you didn't know what you were doing to begin with. You changed your mind on abortion, then you only did it to get votes in the first place...and on and on.
So who are we really believing, the candidates or the media's spin of them? And truthfully, for me, it is sometimes hard to figure out the difference between the two!
This is great! I think Jon Stewart, and Steve Colbert are the best news sources. I much prefer getting my news from them... it's pretty much the only way to see who people really are unless you're willing to look back over a ton of media nonsense. Thanks for posting this, the one on David's blog is awesome too!
