...but we've finally figured out what it takes to keep our house at a decent level of organization/tidiness. Never has been my strong suit, and it so often has just felt overwhelming, so I'd usually just do "cram sessions" before having company over. David decided we should finally get a system, and it's been really good. And having him be actively involved has helped so much. I love having the house clean and being able to enjoy doing things without looking around at all the piles that need to be put away. There are still some areas that need sorting/organizing, but we are doing so much better.
So, yeah, that's just another reason I've been so scarce in the blogosphere lately!

Cool. Want to come do my house next? Didn't think so :(
You rock. Seriously, it's looking great!
I want DETAILS!
Well, basically we made a master "chore chart" with everything that needs to be done during the week (though we didn't include the every day stuff like dishes or kitchen table, etc.) We marked the frequency that things need to be done (once or twice weekly or daily), and then have space to sign off when the chore is completed. For now we spend 45 minutes every morning before the kids are up cleaning. Eventually we hope to be able to add exercise back into our mornings, but for now this at least gets us up and moving. And I have to say that mopping this morning was a fair workout! The nice thing is that we can just look at the chart in the morning or when we have spare time during the day and just pick something to work on. Eliminates the thinking of something factor. Being able to check it off for the week is a nice feeling, too. Plus we are trying to reward ourselves with some fun on the weekends/evenings if we are done or making good progress. I'll try and convert the chore chart to a format I can post and maybe put that up this weekend or next week.
