So, with less than (we assume) 3 weeks to go, I've still not narrowed down the name list, or even compiled a very good name list to narrow down. I still feel like I'm searching for the perfect name. Sure, maybe it would be easier if we knew the gender, but we didn't know with either of the other two kids and pretty much had the names decided on before the big days. The main problem, I think, is that both of the other kids have names that MEAN something to us (either by their inherent meaning or by virtue of being named after someone we admire), and they aren't just names that we liked. I don't think there is anything wrong with just naming a kid something because you like it, but I do like that the kids' names both have a larger context. So then I feel like I have to find a name that I not only like, but that has an extra layer of meaning. I guess the middle name could be meaningful...
Oh, and I also don't like really trendy or popular names. I try to stay very clear of names in the top 100. And also am wary of names that are steadily climbing the ranks.
I know, I'm kind of hard to please, aren't I?

Um, yeah, but what's wrong with Rebecca. Not too trendy, not really popular these days (not that I ever was), and you KNOW I mean something to you.
Bonnie's a nice name ♥
Names are so hard, especially when you have to agree with someone else (your husband). We took forever to come up with Owen for our son. I thought we were choosing names that were not trendy - but I just checked the list. They were both in the top 100the year they were born. Boo hoo. Can we still be friends?
Rebecca IS a nice name. :o) As is Bonnie, but I have to say it doesn't seem to fit our theme.
Michelle, I LOVE the name Owen. I think if it weren't for the actor Clive Owen, that's what we'd name this baby if he were a boy. But having one of the two names already, it seems wrong to have both. I mean, Clive Owen is hot and all, but I'm not setting my children up as a shrine to him...
Is it just me or does Penelope have a nice ring to it?
I've been a terrible blogger lately! Going back over your posts the last few weeks if feels like I've missed a ton! Anyway, I feel your pain. I don't know what it is about a third child, but it's harder than ever to find something good. I'm going to rely on inspiration for this one. Or Jim. Either way. I just don't want to think about it anymore!
: )
I've been keeping my eyes and ears out for unusual names I could suggest. Although if I'm hearing the names, they must not be that unusual. In the scriptures today, I came across a name that I've always liked, but I thought it would draw some teasing with my last name. Titus! He was a faithful missionary and Paul depended on him a lot. I just didn't want my son to be nick-named Tighty Whitey. A cool first name to go with your last name could be Peter, which I don't think is super popular right now. Then we could call him Petey Gonzalez!
Ooh, I think I like Titus. I went through Babynamer.com and made lists of names I liked (boys were much easier than girls this time) and then had David review them. So I now feel like we have at least somewhere to start from. I do like the name Peter, too, but it hasn't really felt like a fit for this baby. (Which will make sense if it's a girl.)
And yeah, Tighty Whitey probably would have been a nickname at sometime! hee hee!
